Geographical features of site
The area is part of the Sierra Madre Mountain range and the Upper Marikina Watershed
Objectives of restoration
We plan to transform a degraded plot of land into a diverse mini forest park.
Type/method of restoration
Natural / biodiversity assessments done
Site assessment was done prior to actual tree planting.
Challenges and threats to the area
Being part of the Upper Marikina Watershed area, it was deemed necessary to restore the area into a lush green forest. Almost all of the areas in the immediate surrounding where already logged out.
Without any immediate source of water, it was a challenge for us how to grow native trees in the site. We relied on the occasional rain and the regular watering done during site visitations.
Communities involved (indicate size)
Minimal involvement with local folks in the area was done. Only during area clearing and preparation where they were utilized.
Solutions/interventions being done in response to challenges and objectives; learnings
Regular tree nurturing during site visitations was the key for a successful forest restoration project
